Taking A Break

It's time to take a break from the journey for a little bit. This is mainly because of a desire to dig a little deeper into a couple of the churches visited so far. I guess when one is touring a country, they sometimes want to stop and immerse themselves further into the culture of a particular region or city. That's where I find myself right now.

I would beg that you not make it too long a hiatus. At least keep us up-to-date on your thought processes and your conclusions.

Scott,
I know you are taking a break, but I wanted to let you know about the Holy Week services at our Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church this week. You don't have to blog it, just come and worship. :)

-Tonight, April 5th, 7PM, Service of the Holy Passion (The Reading of the Twelve Gospels)

-Friday, Royal Hours - 9 AM
Descent from the Cross - 3 PM
Service of Lamentations - 7 PM

-Saturday, Liturgy of Saint Basil - 10AM
Orthros - 11 PM
Resurrection Service - midnight
(when the service is over around 2AM, we'll have a celebratory feast in the community hall to break the fast!)

-Sunday, Agape Vespers - noon
with lamb dinner picnic afterwards

The last 2 services on Friday are my personal favorites. The prayers and songs are touching and poignant. Plus, these services aren't quite as crowded.
The midnight service on Saturday night is the biggest, most glorious service of the year for any Orthodox Church. It's beautiful, but it's packed, so you will want to get there by 10:30 PM in order to get a seat.
